Almost 70% of Americans use social media on a daily basis, and 22% of Americans check their social media profiles five or more times a day.  More importantly, 53% of Americans who follow companies on social media are more loyal to those companies.

Since dentist practices don’t see their patients but a few times each year, stay in touch and top of mind with social media.  Facebook, Twitter, and other outlets allow you to connect with patients on a more personal level.

Here are 3 ways dental offices can use social media:

Share compelling content.

People use social media to get 4 different types of content – educational, informative, entertaining, and inspiring. On top of that, use images and pictures in every post possible.  As a general rule of thumb, only post content that your patients would want to see, and will have them looking forward to your next post.  As a bonus, by posting fun and entertaining contest, your office has a better chance of patients reposting or sharing the content, which puts your company in front of potential new patients.

Create giveaways, contests, and drawings.

Everyone loves to win things, so create compelling contests for your patients to enter.  With the rise in pictures and selfies, a photo contest allows your patients to get creative as well as creates a database of images for you to use for marketing purposes.  Even a simple drawing where entrants provide their name and email allows you a chance to gather contact information from new and existing patients for future marketing campaigns.

Give special offers for your followers.

Reward your followers with special discounts, offers, and services reserved just for them.  Not only will this get patients into your office specifically to benefit from these offers, but they’ll feel a sense of entitlement and belonging that will result in positive feelings toward your office.
